Course Description
Completion This course investigates buildings and their systems to satisfy the requirements for a comfortable, healthy, and productive indoor environment. It will focus on the influences of energy, human comfort, climate, context, heating, cooling and water on the design of buildings and sites. The design of environmental systems with continued emphasis on day lighting, acoustics and design strategies for sustainability, and issues of green construction relating to energy in buildings. Students will use their individual building evaluations to develop a small area climate action plan as part of team assignment. This course explores the principles behind current low energy solutions, and deals with basic application information and strategies. Students will have an opportunity to extend their use of environmental design software. The course is designed to complement information provided in other courses
