Course Description
Completion In this course students will learn how to arrange and integrate the form, fabric and systems of a building to maximize the benefits of ambient sources and sinks of energy for heating, lighting, ventilation and cooling in order to achieve higher levels of human comfort and reduce the consumption of conventional fuels and the emission of greenhouse gases. It will demonstrate techniques for selecting passive strategies appropriate to local climate, site conditions and user needs. It will also introduce simple methods for assessing the effectiveness of design decisions.
