Course Description
course examines how genes and environmental factors interact to influence health and disease in human populations. Training in genetic epidemiology focuses on methods to identify genetic diseases and their interactions with environmental exposures in populations. For example, the increase in incidence of total versus specific cancers within a geographical area can be due to infectious agents (i.e. virus), environmental toxins and/ or familial predisposition.
