Course Description
This course analyses techniques, procedures and aesthetics in documentary production and direction. Topics include finding and telling a story idea, doing research, writing proposal, defining the production approach, shooting and managing postproduction. It also includes analysis of documentaries to define the concepts, styles, and the visual language specifically within documentary. Students focus on the production process to understand the conceptual and technical skills involved in making a documentary. Class time centers on screenings, critiques, discussions and workshops on documentary research, project development, shooting, editing and interviewing techniques.
