Course Description
This course introduces the students to differentiate between different material classes based on their structural and mechanical properties. The course will also introduce students to the production of metallurgical products, focusing on process design models used to describe solidification, recrystallization, and precipitation. The metallurgy basics including: phase equilibria, kinetics of phase transformations and crystallography, will be discussed to design the microstructures of metals. The effect of different parameters and processes on the resulted microstructure will be introduced, including heat treatment and material strengthening processes.
