200+ FWS 100 (Co) This course addresses a variety of themes in public health which serve as a base for an introductory-level understanding of the field. This course emphasizes the diverse, multidisciplinary perspectives on public health. It introduces core disciplines of public health: prevention, protection and assurance. BMS 23010A - Genome Biology Credits Hours: 3 Prerequisite: BMS 23010B Genetic errors and human disease are not just a matter of a base pair change in a protein but also how and when a gene is expressed. This course covers the structure and function of nucleic acids and the molecular basis of gene regulation, including DNA replication and repair, transcription and translation. As well as lectures, the course includes a set of linked virtual practical sessions which will involve at least two mini projects: (i) characterizing a genetic testing strategy and (ii) sequence identification of a disease state.
