Course Description
This course is designed to help students learn essential concepts, knowledge, procedures, and guidelines necessary for effective and responsible diagnosis of emotional and behavioral disorders in children, adolescents and adults and effective communication (orally and in writing) of diagnostic labels and formulations. The emphasis is on basic understanding and use of the prevailing diagnostic system, the DSM-IV-TR. Understanding how proper diagnosis plays. Assessment and planning, Emphasis is on strategies for anticipating future societal needs and developing educational curriculum to meet those needs. Matters of diversity, workforce development, ethical/legal issues in curriculum planning and education are also included.
