Course Description

This course builds on understanding of Data Communications and Networks and introduces students to information and computer security. It will cover theory and practice for the design of secure systems. It will also emphasize on each of these techniques. An important component of the course will be a survey of modern topics in computer security, including protection, access control, applied cryptography, Message Authentications, DoS, IDS and IPS, Hash Functions, network security, firewalls, secure coding practices, cryptographic protocols, privacy and anonymity, and mobile code. Case studies from real-world systems will also be analyzed. Major Electives
