Associate ProfessorDepartment of English
American University of SharjahMy research investigates literary and cultural responses to biotechnology, viral metaphors, and ecological crisis in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. I analyze how writers such as William S. Burroughs, Jeff VanderMeer, Philip K. Dick, and Richard Powers employ speculative and experimental forms to interrogate systems theory, contagion, and the Anthropocene. I have also published on environmental humanities, Arab science fiction, electronic literature, and the role of narrative in shaping public engagement with science and technology.
